Day 4 - Tadapani to Ghandruk, and things go really badly in the tummy department

Today we changed our plan and headed to Ghandruk to meet the two Swedish girls.  We are all very happy that they are joining us, as it would be so bad to come all this way and not be able to even commence the trek.

It was a short day, for which I was very thankful as things were getting worse in my tummy.
The morning sunrise and view of the mountains was spectacular!  Annapurna, Annapurna South (where we are heading), Annapurna 3 and Machupuchare or Fishtail as it is called. They looked so close, even though we knew we had 4 more days to trek to reach the base!

The tea house last night was nice but unfinished so were on the top floor and the end of the hall was open to the elements. It has started to hail just after we arrived last night so thank god for my good sleeping bag! A lovely touch were the very large and healthy dope plants growing all around the lodge, ah Nepal!

What a beautiful spot

The 3 hour walk was down hill so we were at our lodge by lunch. I went to bed and spent the afternoon alternating between running to the loo, eating Imodium and having hot and cold chills in my sleeping bag. Very very worried about walking tomorrow as I can’t eat much, and the trails are cut into the mountain so you can’t get off to go. So lack of energy and loss of dignity likely tomorrow!
On the way we stopped for lunch at the village where Jit, one of our porters, mother lives.  And it even has a western toilet ( yeah!!!!).  No toilets have toilet paper so you must carry your own. And no flushing, you use a bucket of water provided. And no paper down the toilet, it goes into a bin to be burnt latter. Ah the things you learn on a journey of self discovery!

Jit epitomizes the Nepalese character, so kind and gentle but with a wicked sense of humour! He was very happy to introduce us to his mum!
